When is a 1-week e-Vinjeta worthwhile?
The 1-week e-Vinjeta is a practical choice for a short holiday, a ski trip to the Julian Alps, a coastal weekend, or a brief transit journey through Slovenia toward Croatia, Italy or Austria. It gives you unrestricted use of Slovenia's motorways (avtoceste) and expressways (hitre ceste) for seven consecutive days, making it a suitable option for most short stays without purchasing a vignette with a longer validity than you need.
How does the e-Vinjeta's validity work?
Slovenia's vignette system is fully electronic, so there is no physical sticker to place on the windscreen. The e-Vinjeta is linked electronically to the vehicle's license plate number, which is also used for checks. The 1-week e-Vinjeta is valid for seven consecutive calendar days from the selected start date. For example, if it starts on 1 July, it is valid until 7 July at 23:59.
When should you choose a longer e-Vinjeta instead?
If you plan to stay in Slovenia or travel through the country for more than a week, it is worth comparing the 1-week e-Vinjeta with the 1-month option. Two weekly e-Vinjetas may cost more than a single monthly one. The weekly e-Vinjeta is therefore best suited to trips that fit within seven consecutive days.
